Moalboal Buoy Project
Status Update
Here are the points from the last meeting, held at Sunset Restaurant on 4th. November 1999.
Current Business
- Funds stand at P10,000
- Project will buy sufficient line and floats for 30 new and replacement buoys; need to raise more money to pay for these
- New buoys will be placed on: Pescador (4), White Beach (5), Tuble (2), Tongo (4), Badian (3)
- Ensure that boat crews know to tie up properly - boats must to be tied to the mooring line attached to the rubber line, NOT directly to the buoy
- 10 buoys need to be replaced
- There will be no buoys placed on the north side of Pescador - fish sanctuary area
- Two lines should be used for most buoys, doubled up if necessary since short lengths of cut-off line are no use
- Edi will place one buoy on White Beach o/s his resort
- New buoys to be put out when materials have been assembled
Also discussed:
- To section off the entire coast and allocate responsibility for maintainance to different dive shops. No decision made.
- Next on priority list are buoys for the House Reef
- The formation of a core group (3-4 member) to meet more often to co-ordinate the activities and act as contact point for all Buoy business. No decision made.
- Walkways from each dive shop to the edge of the reef. Many problems foreseen and noted that this will be a very expensive project, perhaps better not dealt with by this group . . .
That's all for this meeting. No date set for next meeting
